Fruit forest garden using Permaculture Concept

After starting our garden this year we spent most of our time weeding and not enough time to enjoy our garden. So my wife and I started to do some research on other gardening concepts. We came cross this permaculture concept for gardening.

Thus it started our fruit forest garden.

Previous to you seeing all the wood chips in the photo above. I had purchased a yard of wood chips for 50 dollars from our local nurse store. I was like this is gonna cost me a lot of money to start my permaculture projects. For some reason, I had forgot that my neighbor is a landscaper. The following day as I was outside working on my yard, I notice my neighbor and his landscaper crew had made their way home from their daily job. So I went asked if he knew anybody that cuts trees and would give me some wood chips. To my surprise he has a good friend who does that kind of work. As you can see on the photos my yard started to fill up with truck loads of wood chips.

The hard part was I had to spread all the wood chips. Most done by me which took longer then I expected. As progressive I found it easier to shovel it with a snow shovel that I had brought by lack the Midwest when I moved my wife here.

I planted 6 grapevines with two plants per each grape. I forgot what they are? I will have to look at the tags when I get the chance.

I planted two persimmon trees.

This has taken a lot of hours spreading the woodchips. Hopefully I will get to enjoy some fruits in the near future. As I was following another blogger. It took her apple 7 years to bare fruits? Hope it doesn’t take that long. Anyway it’s an investment for the future to be able to provide for my family without going to the store for any vegetables or fruits.
