How.I.Met.Your.Mother

I'm Suiting Up like Barney Stinson

Its been 2003 that I've not watch any TV shows. I recently met an old friend that thought since I've been separated from my wife as of January 2010, it would be appropriate for me to watch this show "How I Met Your Mother" to put myself back into the market of dating. As of September 2010 the divorce went through. My friend thought I would like this show, possible bring some laughter into my life, help my with pickup lines and bring my A games with the ladies. My friend thought I should be carefree and fearless with my love like Barney Stinson and Ted Mosby. Also my friend mention not to get into a serious relationship too soon until I recover from my divorce. Should I listen to the advice? I don't know if the next person is perfect or not, but just be cauious with the ladies.

As I starting to watch the show, I quickly fall in love the character of Barney and Ted in this TV show. Let me tell you a little about their character and why I like them so much. In this show Barney Stinson is in his early thirties and almost always wears a suit, likes women with issues and is always willing to offer his hypocritical opinion. Barney is a womanizer and has a plethora of strategies and rules designed to meet women, sleep with them, and discard them.  In contrast to his friend, Ted Mosby is also in his early thirties, who wants to settle down, have a family and is narrator from the future, voiced by Bob Saget, as he tells his children the long version of how he met their mother. Ted is more of a romantic guy, who wants to know the women, and try to see if they can really connect with him.  Not until after his best friend Marshall Eriksen gets engaged, Ted decides to try and find his soul mate. His quest informs the general direction of the show.

I have to say the two character of Barney and Ted are totally different from each other.  The reason I like Barney character is because is fearless about meeting woman, even if they turn him down he quickly move on to the next woman. Like the say, "Its not yours to begin with, and you haven't lost anything when they say no". I have to say when I was young I was more like Barney.  However now that I'm much older and just went through a divorce. I feel like I'm more like Ted.  I want to take my time to search for my sole mate, see if can connect emotionally and spiritually, then settle down with her, and to love her with all my heart.

WOW, I love the show so much and I couldn't help myself to keep watch the show, sometime it feels like a full marathon watching five to ten episodes at a time.  I finally completed a total of six seasons and over 100 plus episodes within one months period. I generally watch it when I found time alone from my busy life with kids, and work. I guess I have a lot of time on my hand. I have come to love this TV show of "How I Met Your Mother" and I can't wait to watch the season seven.  Why I love the show, because I feel some of the struggles the main characters goes through are like real life experiences that I had live through it.  I've actually learned a few new ideas from the show and better ways to help with my next relationship.

Now I need to find where rest of the season seven.

Israel

Just the other day I was thinking about the time when I was sent to Israel for work to finish up a installation of a semiconductor equipment in the chemical vapor deposition process at Intel Fab18. My first reaction when my boss approach me I didn't really wanted to go because of all the hype of people not getting along in that region and killing each other. However I wanted to see that region because I just became a follower of Christ and it was a opportunity of a life time to go see the holy land.

I was so excite to go and I have planed places to see and things to do. I thought I had placed all the information into my suit case prior to leaving the states but it never happen. Twenty plus hours later when I had reach Israel and landed in Tel Aviv- Yafo airport I search for my documents. No where to be found in my suit case. So I just took the local map from the rent car, you all know how crappie those maps are? But I had no choice to continue to my destination to Dan Garden Hotel, Askelon.
The people along the way of my drive to Askelon was very helpful when I stop to ask for direction. I had past the hotel coming from the direction of my a strangers the had provided to me. The reason I missed it was that coming from that direction the writing of the hotel was written in Hebrew...lol. When I turned around about a mile later and came back to the direction I came I saw the hotel in English. Finally I was there, I was there safe and sound.

My work load was the same but I had to really try to understand the culture and language. I tried my best to learn a few words each day while I was there. The locals managers at my work place really like the fact that I tried to fit in instead of not accepting the culture.
Beside work on my days off, I try to hit up the areas that interested me; Jerusalem, Dead Sea, Sea of Galilee, Haifa, and Red Sea.
Jerusalem --
I had met up with a Intel employee at the hotel where I was staying. He told me that a local Intel employee was going to take him to Jerusalem to do some site seeing. So on my first weekend there I went with them.

Dead Sea --
On my second weekend I went with some guys I met at the bar in the hotel that I was staying at and drinking one night. We decided to go the Dead Sea.

Sea of Galilee, and Haifa --
On my third week I decided to go on my own to tour the place myself. I woke up one morning and I just drove north toward the Sea of Galilee. That lead me to Haifa along my drive back to Askelon.

When I came back that evening to the hotel. I had stop at the front desk and notice a business lounge in the front of the lobby. I asked what that was about. The receptionist told me to go talk to the manager regarding the service they provide. So I went to talk to her (the manger) I proceed to ask what kinda of service they provide. She told me that the hotel charter buses to certain places in Israel. I didn't know the hotel had done this, otherwise I would had taken the charter every week so it would have been more informative and a guide would answer questions for me if I had question.

Jerusalem --
On my forth week I decided to go back to Jerusalem because I didn't get to see everything.

When the five and six week came I was too busy to go anywhere else. I wish I could had made it to the Red Sea. I heard many good things about it. Maybe next time when I visit again it will be the first place I would like to go see.

Oregon Hmong New Year

I would like to say, "Happy New Year" to all my friends and family including my followers of my blog.

For some reason this year is the first year I thought about wearing Hmong clothing during the Hmong New Year. I never thought it would happen to me, however it was exciting and at the same time nervous because I feel I was too old for this kinda stuff. I guest you are never too old to enjoy where you're from and your heritage. These days many Americans forget where there from, its a shame because here in the states we have so many rich cultures and heritages. Don't forget where you are from?

Let me get back to my experiences of wearing Hmong clothing, like I had mention this is the first year in my life that I wear Hmong clothing to the New Year celebration even though I attended many celebration in the past. I never felt comfortable wearing but this year I decided to wear it. I enjoy see the reaction I get from my friends and families that I was being so youthful, laughing and enjoying life. I guest this may not be the last time I will be wearing Hmong clothing. It also shows that I love where I'm from! I know even though, wearing the clothing is simple but I didn't even know where to begin, however I did my best of putting on the clothing. I had to stop at my brothers house to ask his wife to ensure I was wearing it correctly. She had to correct my pant, and belt clothing. I was being very simple in my outfit this time because it was my first time.
Let me explain a little history of why we wear Hmong clothing during new year. I was told when I was a young boy that during this time of the year it was to meet and greet the opposite sex. So, everyone want to wear their best outfit to the occasion to impress the ladies or men. It wasn't just to impress people, but by wearing your Hmong clothing. People can tell what region of the country you where from or clan you where with back when were living in Laos. These days since we have been is the states now, a lot of the clothing doesn't represent the region or town where you're from because we have so much access to materials in making the clothing. Beside wearing Hmong clothing, their are games that are played at the celebration; ball tossing or strip ball tossing, sing Hmong love song, and culture shows.
I was hoping to at least to toss ball with someone one but since it was the last day of the event their wasn't that much people there on this Sunday, however I was told I should have been their yesterday the building was packed. I still had a great experience wearing Hmong clothing just walking around greeting friends and families. They we were every happy to see me all dress up this occasion. Maybe I'll be more prepare to take advantage of the season next year.

Also during the New Year many local vendors and local family prepare food to sale at the new year. I love the traditional food that are sold there. I usually eat to much then I should.
Actually Oregon New Year and towns across the nation are celebration new year a little bit early because they want to attend the new year in Sacramento, CA during Thanksgiving weekend and finally the biggest new year celebration is in Fresno, CA during Christmas from Dec 25th thru January 3rd or 5th. Where every Hmong families try to come from all over the the world just to attend the new year. I will be going there this year to experience it again. Hope I will be able to share some pictures and a short summary.

Thailand Game Fowl

When I was a young boy, I saw my first game fowl fight in the ring in the summer of 1983.  As I watch with amazement of the movement and skills the game fowl displayed.   As each game fowl took turn displaying its skills over each other's.  I become more fascinated and shown interested in the fowl game bird.  During that summer I could not keep the game fowl out of mind.  I saw images of their graceful movement in my dreams.  I started to question my brother-n-law and friends regarding these game fowl and wanted to know more and learned as much about it as I can.   Many of the people I talk to were amamture game fowl breeders and had little game fowl experience in the ring, but love to raise them as a hobby.
I begun to work hard in my chores and went strawberry picking as a young boy in the hot summer to earn a few bucks to purchase my first game fowl chick. It seems the summer was long and my hard work has paid off. I couldn't wait to go purchases my Thailand game fowl baby chick.  I remember the on Saturday in Sept. of 1983 I then went to the man who I first saw his game fowl fighting and wanted to purchase one of his game fowl.  He was selling his baby chicks for 20 bucks, which at this time 20 was a lot for me, but I purchase it away.   My parents did not approve of me purchasing this baby chick and make me return it.  I was devastated, when I had to return the black chick and I was very sad for several weeks.  I could not get over why my parents disapprove.  Maybe I was to youung at the time?

A few weeks later my brother-n-laws' hen hatches a few chicks.   He knows how bad I wanted to get some of my own.   He gave me two chicks, which I had to convince my parents that I would be responsible for raising them.  It was hard work in raising two baby chicks.  They had to be kept in a box with lights to keep them warm since they were taken away from their mother.  Since that time, every year after that I was raising my own game fowls.  Which I had a learning curve to breed and rearing my own chicks.  None of the game fowl ever made it to the big game, but I enjoy breeding and raising the young chicks.
Not until later in my teens when I started to raise the game fowl with the Heu Family.   They have shown me how to become a better breeder and the aspect of game fowl fighting.  I was traveling with Vue all over the country and preparing his game fowl for game day.  Each week we would travel to cities to watch and participate in game fowl fighting.  I've gain so much knowledge in that one year then to my previous 12 years of breeding these game fowl.  Vue taught me how to prepare the game fowl for each event.

Vue and his brothers are very competitive when it comes to any sports, which involves full contact.   Many of his brothers enjoy the game fowl fighting and has it own philosophy of how a game bird suppose to react and counter act when it is fighting and along with the breeding method.
After Vue moved out of state I started to breed and rearing these wonderful game fowl that I have come to enjoy on my off time from school, and work with his younger brother Va.  Va's philosophy of breeding and game fowl fighting totally different from his brother Vue, I've gain another view that Thai game fowl in techniques of breeding and preparation of game fowl fighting for the ring.

[I was to young then to have a camera to take pictures of the Thai Game Fowl then, but it hasn't change much from these pictures that I took 2005]

Inspired by a good friend

I had always wanted to start my own blog just to write about anything/ everything on my mind, about things that makes me happy and what I enjoy doing. I'll summarize or write about those things later in my blog. However it took me two years since the first time I heard of blog/blogging, I knew I wanted to share my experiences and have a recording of my life event so that one day my kids will read about it. I have written down my user name and password and place it into a save-box. So that if anything would happen to me when I'm old and gray they will be able to learn a little about me.

Recently I've encounter a lost friend that have been missing in my life for 39 years. You can say we've known each other really well, this person have been writing their blog several years now which has inspired me to start writing. I could not thank this person enough in supporting me to write even though I'm not a great writer. But its about sharing things that has happen, and whats going to happening in my life. My friend has been with me through thick in thin in helping me to recover from my divorce. I won't go into that now. Such friends like this you don't want to lose. I just want to thank this person with all my heart, they know who they are...much love.
