Purple Rain
These flowers were taken on September 11, 2010.
In early September the flowers were still sprouting from the ground. I took these beautiful flowers on my first warrior dash event. On that day, I went extra early to check out the course and I ran across these purple flowers sprouting out from the ground and had to take a few shoots.

I believe your flower is a crocus that sprouts in the fall, not in the spring. I don't know what variety it is, but it is a crocus. If you have time, go look at the following website and check out the different fall crocuses they sell. Your flower is very similar looking to what they are selling.---WW

Thank you for your suggestion WW. When I do decide to have my own garden I will look into purchasing some to plant.
